Life on hold – Short update

Just a short update on our activities since our last post, and of what’s been happening during 2025 and 2026.

We spent November and December 2024 in the Pittwater and Cowan Creek area north of Sydney with both friends and Family visiting, then on the 9th of January 2025 we had a horrible motor sail on LaGgecko up to Newcastle, packed up LaGecko for a few weeks away and the on the 10th we flew back to Tassie for what we thought was a three week holiday.

The holiday gave us some insight into how my mum (Darren) was coping on her own, which we found was not as well as we thought, I felt that I needed to stay back in Tassie to help support her.

After spending several weeks staying with kind friends where we could, we decided that we needed to bring LaGecko back to Kettering, and buy ourselves a car so we could get around while we were here.

We brought LaGecko back to Ketttering with some lovely friends Sandy and Jono from the sailing boat Ochre who we first met in Bantry bay, middle harbour Sydney.

Our trip back included a run down the west coast of Flinders island, and through the Tasman island gap at midnight.

Since then a few things we have been up to include:

Sailing trip within Malaysia/Thailand,

Flight into Port Davey for my 60th birthday,

Couple of trips to Sydney,

Trip to the Gold coast for Alison’s 80th,

Helping with a yacht delivery from Southport to Pittwater,

Few days away in Bicheno finally completing the Douglas Apsley gorge walk started in 2018,

Also a few trips away on LaGecko.

Hopefully some more on these in upcoming posts.

So we have been completely in Hobart all the time.
