Meeting up again with the start of our journey

Today we flew from Rockhampton to Brisbane after spending nearly a week with Karen’s brother and his family in Yeppoon, while there we celebrated Brad’s birthday and gave their mum a wonderful send off at the Korio spit Farnborough beach

We arranged to overnight in Brisbane and spend the day with Trevor, Nicole and Annabel on Katmai.

Katmai was our first boat, she is a beautiful Beneteau First 51, built in 1986 in the days before Beneteau became a production boat manufacturer.

Katmai has done amazingly in their hands, they learnt to sail after buying Katmai then traveled from Hobart to Jervis bay, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Cocos Keeling, Rodriguez, Reunion, Maldives, Seychelles, Indonesia as well as many other places travelling over 17,000 nautical miles all within in a couple of years.

They are now back in Brisbane to catch up with themselves and perform some boat maintenance.

It was great hearing their stories, about their techniques, and all of the great experiences they had. Most importantly it was lovely to hear of how much they loved the trip and how the highs made up for any lows they experienced.

For us this is so inspiring it shows us what is possible and if I can conquer my fears, we get out there and do it too 😁
