So Kaz and I have finally retired (well stopped working, holidays etc to use up first), Kaz stopped on the 1st of July and I finished on the 21st of July, it has taken until now to have time to play on LaGecko.
We came down to the boat Saturday night after Phil’s 60th planning to go out Sunday but the weather was uncooperative and Kaz wanted to drop off some panels to the sail maker so we put off our departure until this morning.
We headed out of Kettering and up the river to Hobart with the intention of sneaking past CSIRO and taking a picture to prove we were there and then heading up through the bridge to have a look at the bays each side of the river for future anchoring.

The sneak past CSIRO was a bust, we were spotted by an excited ex-colleague who was excited to finally see us out and about, we looped around and chatted to them for a few minutes.

Before heading as planned through the bridge.

Once above the bridge we travelled up to shag bay to see it would be an Anchorage for us, but seemed a bit small to me, maybe a lunch spot?
Next we headed up to Prince of Wales Bay for a look at the marina there and then headed back down the river checking out New Town bay and Cornelian bay on the way, both looked like possible spots to stay.
After re-transiting the bridge we headed down to anchor just south of the casino for the night.
We invited Dan and Talwyn down for dinner on LaGecko and I took the dinghy to pick them up from the steps at the end of the beach, we didn’t even get wet feet.

We had a lovely dinner created by Kaz and sat in the cockpit chatting with a quiet drink admiring the colour changing casino.

After a few hours we dropped the boys at the casino dock and we got ourselves ready for a restful sleep
